Glossary ID Number - Every item on Neopets has a unique number called the ID Number. This number can only be determined by viewing the item in a Shop or Safety Deposit Box. Items in the Trading Post or Auctions do not display this number. MIA - Missing in Archive Active - Item has been confirmed to exist and ID Number obtained. Searchable - The item name is recognized by the Shop Wizard but it has yet to be confirmed and/or the ID Number obtained. Unsearchable - The item was announced by Neopets but the name is NOT recognized by the Shop Wizard and is not available yet. Unannounced - The item image was obtained from the Neopets image server but it was never announced and does not exist yet. Unobtainable - These are searchable items like the 'Lab Only' Petpet colours and some plot items. 1-Player - These weapons are used by 1-Player Battledome oponents and are not available to the Neopian general public.
Q and A
How do you find out the ID Number of an item?
If you hover your mouse over an item in a shop you will see a url like this in the bottom status bar of your browser: buy_item.phtml?owner=pootlecat00&obj_info_id=10733&g=1&xhs=41r00s61&old_price=7000...
The obj_info_id number (in bold) is the number we need :)
Why are some of the items listed with a Rarity of r0?
This is usually because these items are so rare that we don't know them ;P If you know one we are missing then please let me know!
How do I know which items are 'MIA' items and which are 'Active' items?
Active items will have their names bolded like so: Item Name.
Searchable MIA items will have their names in regular italicized font like so: Item Name.
Unsearchable MIA items will have their names striked through like so: Item Name.
Unannounced MIA items will have their names in red like so: Item Name.
Unobtainable MIA items will have their names in green like so: Item Name.
1-Player items will have their names in blue like so: Item Name.
When you click on an item to view its details you will also see the current status listed at the bottom.
What is the difference between 'and', 'or', 'exact' and 'partial' searches?
- and is the default. What it will do is treat your keywords as whole words when searching. The item must contain all words for it to show up in the results (e.g. Red and Apple will give the results: Red Apple, Bitten Red Apple & Organic Red Apple).
- or will also treat your keywords as whole words when searching. If you have one keyword (e.g. Poogle) it will search for all items with the word Poogle in the name. If you have two keywords (e.g. Blue and Poogle) it will search for items either containing Blue or Poogle or both.
- exact is only useful if you know the exact name of the item you are searching for e.g. Green Apple.
- partial searches will look for your keyword anywhere in the item name e.g. if you search for 'red' you will get such resuls as Red Baby Blu and Buttered Crumpet.
Is the search engine case sensitive?
No, it isn't.
How do I get a checklist of the items I collect?
Make sure you set 'List Type' to 'Checklist' when doing your search. Note: the number of results is set to 100 whenever you choose the 'Checklist' option.
Can I choose the order in which the items are displayed?
Yes, you can sort by 'Name', 'Rarity', 'ID Number', 'Random', 'Price Ascending' or 'Price Descending'.
So, what order are the lists displayed in when I do a search?
This is now upto you :)
If you are viewing a mixture of 'MIA' and 'Active' items then it only makes sense to view the results in 'Name' order since many of the items won't have an 'ID Number', 'Rarity' or 'Price'. If you are only viewing 'Active' items then the results will be listed in whatever order you choose. Note that if you sort by 'Price' or you include a 'Start Price' or an 'End Price' then items with no price will NOT be listed.
