How many times did you have to play before you finaly cleared away every card in pyramids?

For me, it was hundreds. To get 2 in a row (gold trophy) was hundreds more.
edit - I might be wrong but I thought a certain # of wins got you 2nd place and 2 in a row was gold.

i though 2 wins in a row was a second place trophy thats what i got for 2 in a row

actually i won second place after clearing pyramids 5 times, not consecutive. Although to win first prize, i think you have to clear it twice consecutively.

Ive played 890 games so far and still haven't cleared it twice in a row. My aim is to get the gold bonus in the next few weeks.

For me, I've won 22/791 games, 2.7% and stil haven't won twice in a row.
