Certain sponsor games that are fairly short and give you anywhere between 700 and 1,000 neopoints are good. There have been many of these in the past but there are only a few at the moment such as Lucky Charms: Triple Track, A Trix Twisting Turn, and the Last Mimzy Pair Compare. They all require some degree of practice, though. As for that Happy Feet game, I ran into the same problem. You get extra points for swimming close to the iceberg, but I kept hitting into an "invisible iceberg."
