For the people getting bubbled over cauldrons all the time, check and double check that you have the correct weight, values and are doing the steps right. If it doesn't work and you are sure everything is correct, then maybe try a different recipe and hopefully that will work instead.
I also found that writing a list of the ingredients and what needed to be done to them and then ticking each step off as I did it helped tremendously. I don't know if that is much help though to you guys. Good luck and keep at it!
