I just got my first microdermal done today. In my forehead. It was excruciatingly painful but it's going to be GORGEOUS when the swelling goes down!!! Anyone else love body mods or have a microdermal? |

Tattoos are better ![]() My ears are pierced six times and I stretched them to 14g at present. I'll probably go up to 12 soon. |

Tattoos are more expensive, and I'm gonna have to wait until I can (a) save up the four digits it'll take to get my back piece done, and (b) find a tattoo artist that can deal with the unusual nature of my skin. Plus I'm allergic to some dyes/colorings, so I may need to have a few trial runs just to see how I react to the inks. I don't want to spend a few grand on an elaborate back piece only to have a horrible allergic reaction to it! My lobes are pierced 3 times each but I'm not into stretching so they're all 18-20g. My heaviest piercing is 12g. Still, I've got 11 piercings total, had another one but it rejected. I'm hoping the microdermal won't reject. It took too long and was way too painful for me to deal with it running away. |

Arrggh, you two are so lucky---I want several tattoos and a nose stud; but so far they are pretty expensive on my part. xp Darn job... All I have are fake tattoos and fake nose studs. But I have my ears pierced twice in each ear, and my navel's pierced (which was a grad gift from my mom). |
I've got two piercings in my right nostril -- it really wasn't all that expensive to have it done. Cost of jewelry plus $40 or so to pierce each. Be sure to have your piercer custom-bend a screw for your nose -- nosebones aren't suitable for a fresh piercing at all, and hoops are harder to heal with. (I have hoops in mine, but that's because I like the look and two nose screws that close to each other would just be too complicated.) |

And no guns! Only needles! So in other words, not Claire's. Your best bet is to find a tattoo/piercing parlor, they should do it right. The piercing guns are just disgusting really. Can't be properly cleaned. Well, I'm still trying to work on my John Lennon tattoo, and I know what I want on my back, not quite a back piece, but still something big, bigger than what I currently have. It'll cost a pretty penny. I currently have 14 tattoos, four on my back, two on my rib cage (left), one on each wrist, one behind each ear, two on my upper left arm, one over my left breast, and one on my thigh. It's addictive and I am nowhere near done. I've definitely spent a grand or more on tattoos. They relax me and are gorgeous when you have the right tattoo artist. I love those corset piercings, but not for me! I was thinking about getting the seventh and eighth piercings in my ears and leave them at 18/20, but I dunno. At least to 12 you can still get away with normal earrings and the holes don't look massive. I had contemplated snake bites or just one lip piercing, but it really isn't me, and I have to think about future jobs. How I love my tattoos <3 |

Yeah, guns = evil. Find a clean piercing/tattoo parlour with experienced artists and you'll be fine. The nostril hurts quite a bit and can be slow and frustrating to heal, but it's totally worth it. You can put a clear retainer in it to hide it if you work, but be sure to get glass or quarts and not acrylic! Corset piercings are pretty, but they're guaranteed to reject, so most of the time you've got them they're red and angry-looking. Then you're left with a bunch of scars all over your back. It sucked bad enough when my eyebrow piercing rejected! Can you really wear normal earrings alright in stretched lobes as long as they're not like ... hardcore stretched? That's been one of my primary concerns, aside from how they look empty. And I'm lucky. I've got facial piercings, a microdermal implant in my forehead, and purple hair. Working online has its benefits!

Probably good advice---I think there's a tattoo parlor that does piercings for 25$, but I haven't gone in there yet to find out which ones. I never have much time, but my mom pointed it out to me the other day... And I'll be sure to make sure when I do get one, that they'll custom bend a screw. *clears throat* Too late for Claire's. I had gotten my second set of piercings there. I think the girl screwed my ears up a little (one looks a tad higher than the other side, but I can never be exactly sure). When I was six, and got my ears done, I had a gun done. And the girl threatened me! O_o Sheesh... I did have a needle for my belly ring, I think. I was trying to hold my breath, in order to calm myself down (I tend to do that a lot, with anything) and right in the middle of the procedur, it's like, "You can breath, you know". Eh... it's wasn't that bad; felt strange. Now I don't feel a thing, unless my jeans press against it and get it caught. XD Mbif, curious to why I would/should hide my nose stud if I work? Just wondering *how* you meant that---heh, if you meant that they may not allow it there---there's been at least seven different waitresses with nose studs, and a few other people (cooks/dishwashers/etc.). *chuckles* I'm way jealous of them. But I'll keep everything in mind. ^^ I want to save up a little first. And pay off my credits cards for those pants at Hot Topic. *clears throat* ...by the way, I tried to dye my hair purple a few days, but it washed out. x_x Ugh, that was terrible... Is there any kind of dye I could use on my hair that'll last 4-6 weeks, that'll fade gradually, yet works in a lightened brown-colored hair? I tried dying the front strands of my hair and then random streaks through the rest, and it all washed out (yet was SUPPOSED to stay it for 4-6 weeks. *rolls eyes*). I had to resort to red hair dye in a can: http://picasaweb.google.com/puffkins2000/PirateSCoveAkaAprilMay/photo#5192902130939048914 Surprisingly, it came out nicer than I thought it would, and got a lot of compliments on how great it looked; but I wanted the purple! *LOL* And yeah, that's me---I'm scary (but I don't bite!). |

I just meant in case your place of work wasn't keen on facial piercings, or if they allowed them only if wearing retainers/concealment jewelry. A lot of places are uptight about facial piercings, but if your workplace is cool with it, then no worries. ![]() I use RAW dye. I generally use Purple Passion, but they were out, so I had to go with Deep Purple this time. I have pretty dark brown hair, so I bleach the heck out of it first, then leave the RAW dye in all day. Here's a pic of it pretty freshly dyed http://www.omgimages.net/img/244/47633.jpg It doesn't look that blotchy in real life, I swear. ;) |

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh yes yes yes. Even at 14 I can get away with wearing normal earrings. You can tell the gauged earrings are thicker, and there is less variety in many cases, but it doesn't look like you have a doughnut hole in your ear. I think I will end up going to 12, there are some lovely wooden and bone carved designs I want to get, but they are really only available online or proper tattoo/piercing places. I wouldn't be able to wear them at work mind you. I just stick to bog standard small hoops with spikes on the end. The problem is when you leave the earrings out for a long period they can start to shrink and close up, but that is the same with any piercing. I leave mine in 24/7 cause I can. |

Wow. What will they think of next? At the moment I don't have (and don't plan to have) any tattoos as I prefer being a clean skin but as soon as they invent tattoos that can move (like a fire breathing dragon - literally) and you can control where they are on your body then I'm going straight out and getting one. But that'll probably be quite some time in the future (I might be like 90 by then )As for piercings I have one in my nose and that is it. I don't even have my ears pierced. Just went in around 5 years ago and got the nose done (with a needle). It got infected but the great thing about the nose is that people can't really tell when it is swollen so no one noticed (but me, of course). When I have my big stud in people do notice it (if they actually look at your face- it is surprising how many people don't actually look closely). But I will put a smaller one in for formal occasions or take it out entirely for job interviews etc. I can leave it out for around 8 hours with no problems. Then again, I've never tried leaving it out for longer. And I quite like my brown hair colour. Due to surfing, swimming and horseriding it has blondish streaks through it but can also look reddish too in the right light. But I'm also too lazy to remember to dye it and I really don't like the two-tone effect that some people get when they forget to dye again so I won't bother at all. |

The benefit of keeping my hair so short is that by the time my roots start growing out, I don't really have to worry about how I'm going to bleach and dye them without damaging the hair that's already been dyed -- it just gets shaved off, bleached, and dyed. |

Quote: Moving tattoos... well they do perform, operations we'll call them, when they will cut the skin that the tattoo is on and move it to another part of the body. Don't ask me why you'd want to. The pictures are not so nice, but there you go. They do branding and scarification too. I'll stick to tattooing, it looks nicer. I've only ever had red streaks in my hair, never died it. I have little patience for my hair in general. |

Welllll... I live in a small town (it's not even a town; it's a village!), so they probably don't care all that much about looks. Heck, I wear chopsticks to work and everyone calls me "Chopsticks", because I swear no one has even *seen* chopsticks, let alone someone wearing them in their hair. I did get the cook wearing them though. XD You look really awesome! I never imagined you looked like that either; but I really don't want to bleach my hair out, especially if I'm going to use it only on a few certain spots in my hair. It's already been dyed several times with a 'natural' red color. Ack. My hair completely sucks, I swear. *LOL* Summer; I can imagine you with tattoos when you're 90! XD |

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y34/sewnshut/quatre.jpg On the days when my hair behaves itself. Very rarely! Gotta go make it look nice now... hate doing it on rainy days. I may just shove it up in a bun and forget it. Now you guys got me wanting my tattoos and gauging my ears again. I'm already having with drawl from not being tattooed in four months. |

puffkins, if you want brightly-colored streaks or something, you only have to bleach out those spots. You can use cool-colored dyes in unbleached hair for a subtle effect, but it'll only be really eye-poppingly bright with treated hair. You people and your long hair. xD I used to keep mine really long (and I LOVED using chopsticks or chopstick-type hair things to hold it up) but I wanted to do something drastic with it and lobbed it off. It's so much easier to care for at this length that going back to long hair is an almost impossible thought. |
You can pull off that type of hair... I alas, cannot. |
I never thought I'd be able to pull it off, either. At the time, though, I just didn't care. Things were hectic/traumatic in my life and I just wanted something to have some control over. My hair used to be kept in almost the same style as yours, Gooly! I let mine grow out longer as the years progressed, though, and I never could pull off the off-center part. It looks great on you.
My life is one big trauma right now, so most of the time the hair doesn't get to look nice. I control the make-up, that's about it. I thank you My mum always got onto me about having a centre part. She really likes my side parts now. Not so much nagging ![]() I can't begin to imagine doing the centre part anymore, very attached to my side part. I can go left or right depending on my mood. |
I was going for a bit of subtle effect, but where it was also noticeable. Ah, well... maybe I *will* have to use something to bleached my hair and go wild with pink streaks or something! *LOL* I used to have hair almost down to my butt; but I got it chopped off above my shoulders and dyed red. XD Did I get the reactions! Hehe... I love my chopsticks though! I have, like, five pairs, too. And true, you *can* pull it off---I couldn't---I love my hair too much to even have the pageboy style hair. And you look awesome, too, Gooly, by the way. My hair is just a jagged, edgy look right now. |
Well you can use the cool colored dyes without bleaching your hair and it'll give you a subtle coloring. I just love having SUPERBRIGHT outrageously colored hair. LOL. I had a hard time getting over the chopsticks. I'd reach for one of my favorites in the morning only to realize ... I didn't have enough hair! Wagh!
Yeah, however my last dye washed out completely, so I didn't have *any* coloring; subtle or bright. And.... and it was purple! *sobs* Ack, darn Hot Topic hair dye! Oh, poor you! You need to let your hair grow out some so you can wear your chopsticks again. I just got two new pairs; hot pink skulls and frosty clear with silver decorations. |
Hmm, I get mine from Hot Topic. >_> Okay, well, maybe bleached streaks or a different brand would be the way to go for you. XD |
Is is.... oh, shoot, what's it called? *goes and gets the bottle she had* "Color Fiend", you use? I used the alcoholic-based and it completely washed out. So.... that just, you know, really sucked. *LOL* What brand would you recommend, if you know of any? |
I use RAW brand dye and love it. It's semi-permanent, like basically all the cool dyes, so you have to treat it well and do touch-ups every few weeks. It definitely will add subtle color to dark hair. |
Hmm.... I'll have to look into that brand, then, espeically if it's at Hot Topic. I think mine was defective, or something. |
A neat trick that helps set the color is to use a blowdryer on the dye in your hair as HOT as you can handle, then rinse it with icy cold water. In other news, I got a new disk end for my microdermal and it's lovely. I also stretched all 6 of my lobe piercings! |
Hey, now that may work. I just, actually, streaked my hair last night, so the top layer is all copper. Wild looking, to say the least. XD Maybe if I can get some wash-out purple hair dye and put it on, maybe it'd show up better. Better wash out right now, than permanent. O_o But I will have to try that next time I do anything. Thansk for the tip! ^^ |

Quote: Still really want to stretch mine to 10's or 12's... no luck finding proper piercings here though, boo. |

I want mine to go to 14g so I can invest in some Tawapa organic jewelry. They do make a few pieces in 18g (which is what they are currently at now that I've done my first stretch) but I'm leery of any organics that super-thin. I can't even begin to imagine how fragile they must be! If it's jewelry you're looking for, I am absolutely in love with http://www.steelnavel.com and endorse it 100%. Excellent jewelry quality, outstanding customer service, and they do price matching, too. The monthly gift cert. giveaways don't hurt, either. ;) I get everything through them and won't go to anyone else. |

I'll check them out, I thank you! When I can't tattoo, I start messing with my piercings... I am an addict. |

Now that my anchor has healed, I'm already craving another piercing. It's summertime, though, which means a lot of sun exposure (well, for me anyway -- a lot means I occasionally go to bonfires on the weekends, LOL) and swimming and stuff. Not the ideal time. Still ... more shinies ... @_@ |
