Neopian Times

It's about the result of submitting your article. Last time, there used to be a respond on to tell whether the article is good or not. But these few months, there is no more respond upon submitting the articles.

So, I would like to know if there is response only if the article is to accepted to the Neopian Times??

Re: Neopian Times

I submitted a story years ago and never got any response that I know of, so I don't know.

Re: Neopian Times

The board is moved to the RP board.

Anyways, mths ago, I submitted the article and I got a mail saying that it's good or something but too bad NT is full for the week so try again next week.

But, then, when I submitted the article again with some adjustments, no repond at all. I changed it to the original version and still no respond. Just unsure what to do with that article. O_o

Okay...sorry. I'm not sure how that fit in here, but I'm not gonna argue with anyone.

Re: Neopian Times

I have no idea, then; I've never gotten that far, even. They probably have more than one editor for the Times so just because one person liked it, doesn't mean that when you resubmit the same person will get it. Maybe someone else got it the second time, and, well, there's no accounting for taste, you know.

HHmm, ok, Taradith's reasoning sounds reasonable. I'll just try again each week.

Re: Neopian Times

i got rejected once for a comic but got in twice later. i got a rejection neomail, an acceptance neomail and a your-comic-is-being-held-for-future-consideration (aka wait-a-few-weeks-but-don't-submit-again) neomail.
i believe the comics decider is one person back then and she gets 300 comics a week.

so if you don't get published, don't send in the same story every week becuase if you don't get in the first time and the tnt staff didn't want to keep it for future publication - they have no lack of stories to chose from, then try again with a different story. but maybe ask the regulars who do get into the nt a lot? there's a major nt guild and an online nt forum somewhere else too...

and i know for the pet/petpet spotlights, you don't get a reject neomail either. if you do win, it takes like 2 months for tnt to put it up anyway.

Re: Neopian Times

Is that favoritism? Or do they accept them to give the fan-people what they want, to OMGEEZ at the super-writers?

And thanks for the advice soleilduplomb. I'll try some of the advices from the websites and see where it goes from there.

Re: Neopian Times

haha
well personally, i think it's favortism. but tnt don't get fan mail from readers, only the authors.
i only read the comics (i don't like reading long things) and there are on-going series where the user has gotten in like tens of times, like 'neopups' & 'spooky' that i really like because those deserve to get in but then some of the other series aren't very good at all...

by the way, nt 300 is coming up so they'd be accepting A LOT more entries for it
plus i think you get an avatar/something coveted if you get in right?

and i know for the comics, just like for nt 200, there are going to be massive crossovers (b/c i got asked to do one but i turned it down) and crossovers are only possible for series comics.

I love Spooky. That's the best. The author always comes up with good jokes.

Re: Neopian Times

I recently sent in a comic involving the Lost Isle but I later got a rejection letter saying that the editor did not understand my joke. I'm not really all that surprised about that, though.

Nope just Droplet accepts/rejects/holds over submissions

No, it's not favouritism. The people with 100+ trophies write well and write A LOT. When you're submitting every week, your writing's improving, you know how to write a good NT story - you get in a lot. But that doesn't mean established authors don't get rejected sometimes too :P

You should get some kind of reply though. Wait like a week or two, then resubmit. You should have a rejection/acceptance/held over letter.

Re: Neopian Times

Hm, if there's really just one editor, I don't think he/she can read through every submission every week, really; there must be a lot of skimming going on.

YAY!!!!!!!!!

My submission is " being held over and may be considered for future publication in the Neopian Times." Oh yes!!!!! This would be my first one ever, and the first one I ever submitted.

(I didn't want to waste space with a new topic)

Re: Neopian Times

Evil Feepit is a good comic series as well =) fmoura is amazing at her art. I've never tried to submit anything into the NT, due to my obvious lack of drawing skills. My writing has improved, however, so I'm going to try for a short story sometime.
