Ok, so awhile ago, I made a guild, and to encourage people to join, I would put the items in my trades, well, I got busy and turned over the guild to someone else... anyway, now that I have more time, I made a new guild, (I dont want to ask for my old one back) but... now we are not allowed to use the trades for anything but trades... so how do you recruit members? I have been to the hated chat board, nobody is really there looking for a good guild, they all want guilds that are giving away free stuff if you join, and I give good prizes, but you have to earn them... so how do I recruit???

Well I take it your guild has a topic? The thing is you need to find people out there that are interested in that topic, those people you invite. You can just have a neomail conversation with them and ask them to join. And of course asking your friends to join is also great for starters, they could ask their friends to join etc.
Also as for guild chat some people do look for a good guild, they're just rare, not all people there are looking for free items ;)

 You could also ask all your friends to join! I'm sure they'd love to!
