I was collecting stamps and I liked the challenge, but now that the stamps have a high score table a lot of people bought up all the stamps just to get a trophy, so now it's a lot harder for someone like me with not that many neopoints to get the rare and now rarer stamps!

Sure not being able to get a certain item because you can't afford it, or just can't find it is annoying, but the challenge is what makes it fun.
I've said it before, and i'll say it again if everything on neopets were cheap and or easy to get, what would be the point of getting it? Why work hard to make np's if everything costs 2 np's or nothing at all. If things we free we wouldn't have shops, or anything to collect.

Yup. I start one, and then grow bored of it, and sell out all my items. Although, I will never stop collecting PB's!

for me, the price is not a big deal. the real challenge for me is that neopets just keeps adding new items, so even when i finish a collection, it doesn't stay finished for long.

Collecting can be frustrating, but that is part of the fun. My Usuki collection is growing quite respectable. Now all I need are the super rare ones that cost over 100,000 NP. Boy, is this going to take a while... Any help is always welcome, let me know you have any rare Usuki items to trade or sell. This includes dolls, play sets, accessories, posters, and the elusive Brass Usuki Coin. My neopets screen name is wicked_hotaru.

Oh yea!! Because some of the items cost more than what you have and you have to save up for a long time.

Im kind of spilt... It's fun trying to get all of the items you need to complete the collection. But then all the fun is ruined when you have envious people neomailing you asking for countless things . But the the real reward is when you complete the collection. Like when I finally got all of the Jazzmosis items, I was beaming all day long(they can been seen at my anything gallery). Well there my opinion...
