Hello there, I recently came back to neopets (well it helps to procrastinate with your HSC on your back) and I realised I have roughly 260 items, half of which are retired ones. In my childhood days I used to dump everything that wasn't food in there because I was terrified of the Pant Devil...once he stole a piece of food from me, and I was mortified (hey come on I was only eleven)!
Anyhow, I was wondering if anybody else was a compulsive hoarder of items?
And yeah, I was wondering whether I should sell my utility fish. They're going at 20, 000NP each in the shop wizard, and I have about five of them. Or, for that matter, any other retired items. Does anybody see inflation helping anytime soon?

Inflation is an item by item thing. The retired items that will go up the most in price are the ones that get used up -- food (except Advent Calendar stuff which is so cheap that going to 500 NP is a huge jump) and books. I think books go up the most -- people trying for the trophy have to read as many as possible. But retired foods aren't gourmet, so they don't help with that trophy.
Me, I save 1 of everything -- that's my favorite thing to do on Neopets. And I LOVE Utility Fish. I wish they would create more of them.

Hi, Just chimming in here. I have been on neopets for one year now, and I am a career packrat. I currently hold 2,698 items in my SDB. I love to collect retired food items and I have recently started buying more books.

Utility fish are just items, they don't actually do anything. They are some of the few items in Neopia that do, however, move.
Rosenberg, heh, you got nothing on Poeia... She is really high up there. What are you on now Poeia?

Check my sig -- I'm keeping it pretty accurate. I should hit 10,000 sometime this summer.
The problem is that I have too much going on in my real life -- haven't been earning many neopoints. That's slowing me down a lot.

Hmmm, maybe I shall hoard them for a little longer...I'll just sell off some of the random things that have gone up a lot in price...for some reason I have so much food in there! Food has gone up so much...I remember in 1999 when you could buy your carrots at 4NP each from the food store...and about 10NP in the average market stall.

Oh my, I love the old days. I remember "50 NP? HOW ARE WE GOING TO AFFORD THAT??"
I'm a compulsive hoarder of the middle class. 1400 items now I believe, most of them cheap, or the Snow Faerie forgot to check the price on her prizes and gave good ones to me ;)

Wonder how much a set of faeries is going for?
I used to be big on the "battledome" thing, but I'm not sure if I want 3x sets per faerie in my sdb...

I keep just about everything I get. Not really sure how many things I have because I have them spread out over my gallery accounts.
Sometimes hoarding stuff can be profitable. I got a bottle of purple sand from a TCG code months ago. Instead of selling it for about 8k (it's worth at the time) I saved it, because i liked it. When the newest cooking pot recipes came out for sand bottles and I sold my purple sand for 93k.

Now...I just checked on my SDB and I somehow have acquired nearly 2000 items. Methinks it's time to clean.
I personally collect slushies because they're pretty...and I like to eat slushies in real life (trust me, somehow it makes sense...), but I also did make failed attempts at collecting > chocolates > baked things > school things
Pretty much I'm going to look through and see what I have duplicates of and sell those duplicates off now?
Or even totally remove any foodstuffs that aren't retired? Wow, I just realised, I also have unfinished maps sitting around. Hmmm. What to do with those?
I mean, how many years is "too much" when it comes to hoarding? I've been here so long my user profile permanently shows "6 years" (although I've only visited off-and-on). What if "the bank starts to charge" for SDBs?
Has anyone here enough of a veteran to remember the game that was out in 2000 where you won Pokemon Posters? I just realised, I think they turned into Usuki Doll Posters?!?!?! Now what?!? Grrr
