Like a lot of people I've over-analyzed the Plot while waiting for something further to happen. My newest thought: everything we do is earning us points. So perhaps instead of being the currency for the gift shop as some have speculated, each handful of sand we removed- not purchased- will give us points. Further probably wrong idea: the prizes from the repository will be used in a support role, like the Maraqua plot. (Obviously I've wasted a lot of time thinking up silly theories.)

I don't think that it would have been fair to make it so that the handfuls of sand gives points - there were simply far too few. More likely, it's a junk-item that is just around to clotter our inventories.
Maybe we need to read all the scrolls in the Tomb and then go back to the repository? Or, perhaps, we get to break through at some point....?

Now that the scroll repository is no longer buried by sand, the engineers in charge of the project have another problem -- when they built the pyramid, they didn't leave any space inside for the scrolls! The next phase of the project is to clear out rooms and corridors inside the repository, to make room for the scrolls.
You! Get to work!
The foreman jabs his finger toward the scroll repository pyramid. "Looks like you're gonna be haulin' blocks now. Five to a block! And don't let me catch you slackin', we gotta get this pyramid built fast." He taps his cudgel menacingly.
And then...
How am I supposed to get any work done with the likes of you around...
The foreman sneers at you. "You just sit quietly there for a few minutes. I don't need you messing up my planning and organization any further!"
Heh. So it takes five pets to move each block. Interesting...

you need to find a block that the foremaster allosw you to move. There must be 5 players counting yourself to move the block. once one is moved, an item falls. ANY PLAYER CAN HAVE IT as the foremasters comes and asks you to roll a die, the higher is the winner...

Apparently you need to move the block with your faerie statue symbol on it or you get the response I had above.
I had to wait half an hour to try again. Here I go...

by the way, from what I've seen and what people told me, the items "falling" from the block are rare and expensive Lost Desert ones. (I could have won a Golden Patterned Vase, 15-20k on the wiz)
between my first and second block, I had to wait one hour
