I think it's always empty, because the place is empty, right? Or maybe it only restocks for people who've completed the tablet. Does anyone have a direct link to the temple of 1000 tombs?

You need the gift shop to complete a certain quest (which comes after completing the tablet, getting the avvie, and getting scarabed). Temple is at http://www.neopets.com/desert/ldp/temple.phtml . Good luck!

As for getting the gift shop in the temple- when you view the start page with the picture of the temple, there is an eroded arch window on the right of the picture- if you click in there it will take you to the gift shop...
