Constellations.
      #420007 - 28/03/2006 15:45

Since there wasn't a topic specifically on this subject, I decided to make one.

Has everyone here found the Sleeper yet? It took me some time, and I had to use the boomspeed thing, but I finally found mine last night. I forgot to talk to the Archivist too, and that put me back a bit because I couldn't figure out where mine was at first. x.o

It looks like the next one is going to be the Wave, someones already found it here: http://petpages.neopets.com/~dongpi093

I might be wrong, but alot of people are saying they've found that one, and a few have said they found others, but can't submit yet.

hmm I didn't find it yet, must be the wrong time or something, I did all the steps...
Is there anyone who hasn't got the sleeper on the map too? I did all the steps again, and still I can't find the sleeper.

Finally I found it, it was smaller than I thought...

I can't find the sleeper, I send the stars in the shape of this 'V' thing and it says it's not a constalation.

Also, does the celing do this only after you've found it? Because mine's not doing this.

Edit: Oh, jeeze... I just found it. Sorry people... move along. Nothing to see here.

I stared at my coordinates for hours, looked at all the combinations of stars with the same Y coordinate (or so I thought), and then I gave up and posted them on one of my pet pages and asked the neoboards for help, which I got promptly. I much prefer figuring this stuff out on my own, but it's nice to know the neoboards are useful sometimes

to see the stars above the statues there is a very thin line in the picture of each statue, it's at the very top of the pic and is only a millimeter or 2 wide click on that and it'll show you the gems above the statue, but the sleeper gems only look like in the picture shown in the previouse post after you've found your constellation hope this helps and i didn't confuse anybody further

EDIT: sorry wasn't clear at all just re-read my post . the thin line is an invisible link if you use the tab button it should show sorry not very comp savvy so terminology may be a bit off

I found the Sleeper last night with a little bit of searching. It was interesting to find, a little bit harder then the sleeper because I kept on finding very similar star groupings.

Just a random note, but, the middle of the wheel of knowledge has the Altadorian sun on it. Maybe a clue, maybe a hint, or maybe just a coincedence. I thought it was randomly odd.

Well I'm having some trouble with this one. I've found one group of stars that I swear matches up, but when I try to submit it, it says it doesn't match.

From looking at the TCG cards, I think this constellation looks like the Dreamer. Can someone confirm that?

Ok! was really stuck, but after a bit of work, I got the constellation! Yay for me! now I am up to date on this one. I don't plan to give up like I did on the LDP. I almost gave up on this one today, though.

I clicked on the clouds and found a new constellation but I haven't been able to find it on my star map. Has anyone else found the one in the clouds? I went back to the archivist and he said:
The archivist says, "Another pattern, floating in the clouds? What wonders you find! Perhaps it corresponds to another constellation. Off to the observatory with you!"

I have been searching since this morning and can't find anything.

I found it very helpful to take a little piece of paper and track the pattern in the clouds onto it. Then you can go to your starchart, place the piece of paper on it (make sure not to turn it in any direction) and just systematically work your way around the starchart until you found a place where every dot on your piece of paper is covered with a star - that's your Dreamer constellation.

The pattern is the same scale as the constellation on the chart, only the lone star at the bottom is off a millimetre or two. But it surely made it easier to find for me!

Neverending: I don't know if you have already submitted your chart but I had a problem with it initially. You have to go the menu (where the red button is) and select Add a Star from it. Then you select the lone star. It doesn't seem to work if you try to use the fountain pen.

Ahhh, I finally found it. I used a piece of plastic sheeting to draw out the stars and then took it to boomspeed to find my exact coordinates for that bottom star. That one was surrounded by stars and hard to find the right one at first.

Yes, that was what the problem was. I was connecting the lone star from the third star instead of adding it, but I finally figured it out, lol. Just forgot to come back and edit my post.

Hey Guys, I've noticed alot of people having troubles finding their constalaitons even with darkfire's awesome starmapper(**** 8gives major props to darkfire8) ).

Neways what my poste is about is a little php program im working on that finds the coordinates of the constalations for you. it works by mapping the similarities in the distance between the stars of diffrent constalations.

if you want you can use it here: http://ricall.freehostia.com/findconst.php

what i really came here to ask for was that if anyone has found any other constalations(even if they havent been released yet) other thenthe sleep and the dreamer, if they could maybe send me the coordinates of the stars in the constellation, so that i can add onto the script. lol hopefully this solves some problems with nto being able to find your constalations... i never did liek those I-Spy books...

Hope you gusy like this. if you wanna send in any coordiantes to me, my neopets username is rickyallen13 or you could just PM me

k so here the constalation coordinates i have now:
Sleeper
Dreamer
Dancer

thanks to...

the_dog_god (ppt)
SnowWolf75 (ppt)

for sending coordinates

Please, help me! I'm getting angry at this constellation finding...
I'm searching for the sleeper and I cannot find it:
Used Ye Olde star Mapper and followed all steps written there, but couldn't find the constellation with it.
Then I used the easy Constelation Coordinate Finder and the result was: 0/3 Total Constellations Found.
What does it mean?
When you were searching for the Sleeper, what was the distance between the star? I mean was it small enough to fit in the round telescope screen? Were the stars the same size? And finally, how was the constellation placed: is it possible that the Sleeper is at different angle? Like upside down?

usually it means that you've missed one of the steps on the plot because your starfield will change after a certain step so that your able to get constellations, try running through the steps of the plot again

I foudn it but i havent had it submitted, so far i've got 6 of the 12 constelations

im working on a program to help me determine what is and what isnt a constellation, so far ive found a couple similarties to figuring out if there is a constellation. first is that if it is a constellation the distance between stars will always be a multiple of ten. second there iwll probobly be fake constellations to throw you off, fo rexample ifyou were looking for the dancer there might be a constellation that has 5 of the 6 stars in perfect position, so just look out for that. also if anyone wants to see the project just check out:

http://ricall.freehostia.com/findconst.php

it woud be nice if neone who wants to could send me their star data, hopefully i can fin dhte last 6 constellations. much thanks goes to elric of the PPT forums though for his awesome templates
