Winnie the Pooh with Mental Disorders
      #466933 - 24/04/2008 13:24

I recently got a weird thought, but it wouldn't leave me alone, so I felt the need to post it. Don't Winnie the Pooh characters often seem like they've got mental disorders or some sort of mental issue or problem of some kind? Tigger definitely has ADHD or something (and he's got a few hypomanic tendancies or at least how I see it). Rabbit acts rather obsessive-compulsive, Eeyore is definitely depressed (the phrase "nobody cares" is something we actually do see from real depressed people). My mum says that Pooh has the beginning stages of Alzheimer's. And Christopher Robin lives in a fantasy world half the time.

Did Winnie the Pooh characters ever seem like they had some sort of mental disorder to you? I'm curious if anyone thinks so.

I always said my parents should have paid more attention with my childhood likes. Eeyore was my favourite, and what do you know?! I'm bi-polar. I understand Eeyore far too well.

As for other characters... Pooh is forgetful, but Piglet, Rabbit, Tigger, Roo and Kanga always seemed quite normal.

Heffalumps and woozles excluded.

Kanga and Roo seemed pretty normal, but I didn't think Piglet or Tigger were normal at all.

My two favorites were Eeyore and Tigger ... bipolar ... go figure.

It's funny that your two favorites were Eeyore and Tigger, because those are the two I act like a lot (when I'm alone I can get all depressed like Eeyore, but when I'm around people, especially those I like and who like me, I start acting like a hypomanic little Tigger).
